We have been watching the weather closely and unfortunately we have to make the difficult decision to cancel the run tomorrow. Given the sustained wind speed of over 20 mph and gusts over 40 mph it is too dangerous to have families running the beautiful tree lined streets of the Newstead neighborhood. We know many of you will be disappointed, we are too! But the safety of our runners, walkers, volunteers, and neighbors has to come first.
Thank you to all of our sponsors, runners, walkers, and everyone who made a donation in support of Achieve and the Newstead 5K. While it is not feasible to run the full event on another date, we would love it if you can all help us revive the “Instead 5K’ this year and when the weather is safe, run a 5K route of your choosing in Maplewood or South Orange while sporting your race shirt. Take pictures and tag us, and let’s keep the spirit of the Newstead 5K going!!
